Last week Facebook flew me out to Palo Alto for an on-site interview. For those of you who haven’t spoken with me about this, you may be wondering, “I thought you’re starting a business. Why were you looking for a job?” It came down to three things:
Post-launch productivity. I’m more productive when I’m busy.
Moving out of my parents’ house. And...
That's what she said
RJ: What's wrong?
Me: Huh?
RJ: You look confused.
Me: Why?
RJ: You were making this face. (looks confused)
Me: I did?
RJ: Yeah.
Me: I was just wondering why the car in front of us wasn't moving.
RJ: Oh.
Me: I wasn't making a face, you know.
RJ: Except you were.
Me: You were just projecting your assumptions on my face.

My friends Berna (whose blog I’ve linked to before) and Eryne (whose blog I linked to below) went on a road trip sponsored by Seventeen Magazine this past summer. Their shenanigans were posted online, and this was my favorite clip of the bunch. Cute!
How to have a great job interview →
This is an article I wrote in one of my old blogs that neatly presents all of the best advice on interviewing that I collected. I did this because a month before I graduated, I had a horrendous interview. And although part of it was the interviewer’s fault (he baited me into not preparing), I should’ve been prepared anyway. And so I vowed to never be unprepared for an interview...
Connecting the dots
Remember that 7-question survey I posted a while back? Well, I made it because I was struggling to find a purpose for this blog. Because the blog can be time-consuming, I wanted to learn what value it contributed, if any - to help me determine how much time and energy to spend on it, if any. Well, when I asked my cousin Janelle why she didn’t fill out the survey, she said:
“I refuse...

What your music says about you:
Indie: Devotees have low self-esteem and are not very hard-working, kind or generous. However, they are creative.
Rock ‘n’ Roll: Fans have high self-esteem and are very creative, hard-working and at ease with themselves, but not very kind or generous.
Blues: High self-esteem, creative, outgoing and at ease with themselves.
Classical: Classical...
6 tips on critiquing
Comment on what’s right (so they know what’s worth keeping)
Ask why (they did what they did)
Focus on the general (instead of nitpicking the details)
Brainstorm fixes (as suggestions)
Offer honest opinions (instead of disguising your critique to be kind)
Leave it to their judgment (cause it’s their project)
50 people, 1 question: what do you wish would happen by the end of today? My answer: that everyone gets what they want to happen by the end of today. My selfish answer: meet an amazing person at the end of a horrible day. Preferably female.

Ch-ch-changes
I’ve made some minor changes to this blog design. Of note:
Music filter: The music (note) button on your left will show you my music posts. For those of you that appreciate my taste in music.
No more thumbs: So few of you were using it that it wasn’t worth the aesthetic cost.
Off-white background: I made the background a little less white because pure white can be too...
By the way
Make sure to take my 7-question survey if you haven’t already. I’m still figuring out what I’m going to do with this blog, and I need all of your feedback.
“Too Too Too Fast” by Ra Ra Riot
Their new album The Rhumb Line is my favorite album at the moment. Another rare album that I can listen to in its entirety without stopping. I’m even considering going to their LA show late this month, and despite my appreciation of great music, I’m not compelled to see many musicians live.
This video surprised me because I assumed this...

WHY DO YOU READ THIS BLOG?
I apologize for my spotty updates the past two Fridays, but I’m in the process of changing my blogging routine. I’ve considered posting less often with more insight, less often with more personal thoughts, and even not blogging anymore. I just hit 111 uniques the other day, so I’m not likely to quit blogging altogether. But I’ve spoken with a few of you, and it seems...
